Two members of staff at a south Shropshire care home have clocked up more than 60 years of dedicated service between them.

Gill Petford has just completed 32 years service as a kitchen assistant at Stone House in Bishops Castle, while her colleague care assistant Olive Pritchard has been working there for 30 years.

The home, which is run by Coverage Care, Shropshire’s leading independent care home provider, on a not-for-profit basis, cares for up to 40 older people with or without dementia.

Gill said she still enjoyed her work cooking up tasty and healthy meals for the residents.

“I really enjoy my job and love finding new ways to be creative in the kitchen and serve a variety of food that our residents love,” she said. “We work hard to make Stone House a home from home and great food is part of that.”

Olive said it had been a pleasure working at Stone House for three decades.

“The residents make working here a pleasure and the last 30 years have flown by. I really enjoy looking after them and it’s great to be part of such a caring team,” she said.

Both women, who live in the Bishops Castle area, were presented with bouquets of flowers from home manager Keturah Bloor to mark their milestone with Coverage Care.

Coverage Care Chief Executive David Coull said: “We know our people are our greatest asset and Olive and Gill exemplify the caring ethos we promote across all aspects of our service at Coverage Care.

“I would like to thank them for their years of dedicated service so far and look forward to working with them for many more.”
