Book a Home Visit

New Visiting Protocol effective from 16th May 2022

All visitors are asked not to visit if they feel unwell, even if they have:

  • tested negative for Covid- 19,
  • are fully vaccinated
  • received their booster.

Transmissible viruses such as flu, respiratory viruses and norovirus can be just as dangerous to care home residents as Covid-19. If visitors have any symptoms that suggest other transmittable viruses and infections, such as:

  • High temperature
  • Cough
  • Diarrhoea
  • Vomiting

Visitors should avoid the care home until at least 5 days after they feel better.

All visitors are asked to wear a mask or face visor when visiting

Visiting is to take place in the persons room or in the garden

We follow protected mealtimes so unless you are supporting someone with their meals we ask that you do not visit during this time.

Named Carer formerly Essential Care Givers

  • Each resident is entitled to one essential care giver who can visit daily even during outbreak periods
  • They do not need to book
  • There is no predetermined period of time for the visit.
  • If they support with personal care, they need to have a Covid-19 lateral flow test twice a week and share the results with the home.

Other Visitors

  • They do not need to book
  • There is no predetermined period of time for the visit.
  • To manage the environment, we need to limit the number of people in the building, so ask only one essential care giver and two “other visitors’” per resident at any one time. If other visitors arrive you need to decide who will be staying. We will be strictly managing this requirement.

For residents who like to walk about we ask the two “other visitors” remain in the room and the essential care giver accompany the resident and encourage them to take part in the visit in their room or move to the garden.

End of life

We identify end of life as starting when the end-of-life care plan commences, this is reviewed weekly by the GP and could last up to three months at which time it will be reviewed again the home.

Key changes:

  • No booking system
  • No limit to the length of time of the visit
  • Only an essential care giver and 2 visitors at any one time

Outings

Residents who go out do NOT have to isolate or LFD unless in exceptional high-risk circumstances.

Outbreaks

In the event of an outbreak, we will follow government outbreak guidance and local Health Security Agency advice, this may mean closing units/homes and stopping visits other than essential care givers.

I hope this answers any questions you may have when visiting your relative.

Please stay safe and take care.

Kind regards
