People will be able to get an experience of life at one of Shropshire’s newest care homes at an open morning later this month.

Montgomery House in Sundorne Road, Shrewsbury, will open its doors from 9.30am to 12.30pm on April 20. It will be an opportunity for neighbours, families and potential residents to see the facilities on offer and find out more about day-to-day life at the home.

The 90-bed purpose built facility, which is run by Coverage Care, was opened in November 2016 and has four units offering residential, nursing and dementia care.

Visitors will be able to take part in activities hosted on each unit from sports and games to pampering sessions. There will be entertainment from Kiddley Divey, which specialises in providing music therapy sessions for older people and those with dementia, a cake sale, raffle and refreshments.

Home Manager Carolyn Fisher said: “We are very much looking forward to the open morning as it gives us the chance to meet the local community and let them see the home from home environment that we have created here at Montgomery House.

“We’re very proud of the home, the facilities and the person centred care we offer and this is a chance for people to come and see what life is like in a friendly, modern care setting.

“Our residents love the extra excitement of the day and their families love to get involved as well. The invitation extends to anyone in Shrewsbury and the surrounding area who is interested in seeing life at Montgomery House in action.”
