David Coull, Non-Executive Director at Coverage Care Services, looks back at his 22 years with the organisation.
David’s first memory of Coverage Care goes all the way back to when the company was formed in 1995, when he was General Manager of one of the other subsidiaries, and boy, have things changed since!
David joined Coverage Care Services back in 2003. Since then, the organisation has experienced many highs, including refurbishing, acquiring, building, and developing homes and services. Of course, the company has also faced its fair share of challenges along the way.
One of David’s overriding memories is working with some thoroughly excellent colleagues and participating in fun events. For instance, he and his colleagues entered a 16-person team in the Shrewsbury Dragon Boat Race two or three times, winning a Bronze medal one year, with all proceeds going to the hospice.
They also entered a 4-person (with mixed ability!!) team in the Coracle Relay Race four or five times in support of MacMillan Cancer.
Perhaps the events that stand out the most for David are the two ice bucket challenges. You might wonder why he returned for the second one after the first – well, it was for a good cause! However, David does recall that the second container was less like a bucket and more like a mini skip! He can still see it looming over his head.
Thankfully, he’s not aware of any surviving pictures or sound recordings.
These experiences highlight to David the wonderful colleagues who generously give their time for the people who need the organisation's services and their wider communities.
David looks back over his 22 years as part of the Coverage Care Services family with enormous pride and would like to thank you all for being part of this incredible journey.
