As her children grew, so did Liz's career. She progressed to the position of Unit Manager, demonstrating her versatility by taking on nearly every role within the facility, from laundry and cooking to even handling maintenance tasks like plumbing repairs.

Looking back, Liz fondly recalls many special memories from her time at Coverage Care.

One that stands out is the annual bonfire and fireworks evening. "We always had a bonfire and fireworks evening and invited family and friends. As the home was built around a quadrangle, all the residents could see the fireworks from their windows. It was always such a wonderful time," she reminisces.

bbqWhen asked what has kept her at Coverage Care all these years, Liz emphasizes the support she has received.

"I’ve always been supported at work, and even when I’ve had my own ups and downs, work has supported me."

Liz added, "Over the last 30 years, improvements to facilities and technology have enabled staff to provide residents with better care. A culture of inclusivity ensures residents are encouraged to participate and be included in creating and updating their own care plans."

Liz hopes her lasting legacy at Coverage Care will be the high standards she set, serving as an example for other staff members. Her commitment and passion for her work have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on everyone at New Fairholme. Despite her long tenure, Liz has no plans to retire.

"Why would I retire?" she says. "I’ve always been very happy here. The work fits around family life, and I have a great manager who always listens and is so approachable. I really enjoy my job."
