Keturah Bloor is a local girl through and through. Born and raised in the picturesque village of Lydham and the town of Bishops Castle, she has spent her entire life in the rolling hills of beautiful south Shropshire. Her story is woven into the very fabric of the place.

Keturah contentFor the past 35 years, Keturah has dedicated her career to the care sector, rising from kitchen duties to leading one of the town’s most respected nursing homes. She began her journey as head cook in a residential care home before stepping into the role of relief night care assistant. Her potential was quickly recognised, and within three years she was promoted to assistant manager. After a while in this role, Keturah knew it was time to seek a fresh chapter where she could make a bigger impact in care.

Then fate intervened. One morning, while reading the Shropshire Star, she spotted a vacancy for home manager at Stone House Nursing Home in Bishops Castle, run by notforprofit provider Coverage Care. The closing date was that very day. With characteristic determination, she picked up the phone to ask if she could still apply. The answer was yes - and that call changed her life.

Keturah secured the role and has now been at the helm of Stone House for 15 years. Reflecting on her long tenure, she says: “I’m passionate about the job and my community. I’ve grown up with everyone around me — our local GP has known me since I was a little girl, and my family have always been prominent figures in the town. Coverage Care looks after you in a holistic way, from training and development to care and support whenever you need it. And I have an excellent team around me.”

Her pride extends to her staff, including the ten overseas workers that Stone House sponsors. Their arrival has brought new energy and diversity to Bishops Castle. “I couldn’t do this without them,” Keturah says warmly. “Their presence has changed the town forever, but in a good way. Residents have embraced them, opening their doors, offering places to stay, and welcoming their culture.”

For Keturah, care is not just a profession - it is a way of life woven into the fabric of her hometown. In Bishops Castle, where everyone knows her name, her story is one of rootedness, resilience, and the quiet power of community. She is not just a manager; she is a neighbour, a friend, and a reminder that true care begins at home.
