As Coverage Care celebrates its 30th anniversary, it’s the people behind the care who truly define its legacy. One such individual is Jonathan Cook, Home Manager at Greenfield’s, whose leadership journey is a shining example of resilience, compassion, and forward-thinking.
Jonathan joined Greenfield’s in October 2020, right in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic — a time when the care sector faced unprecedented challenges. With a calm head and a wealth of experience, he stepped into leadership with a clear focus: to support his team and provide the best care possible.
His journey in the care industry began in 2012 as a care assistant. “There is real progression in care if you’re willing to put the work in,” Jonathan reflects. His rise through the ranks to Home Manager in his previous organisation and then at Greenfield's is proof of that dedication is a testament to that belief - and to the opportunities that exist within the sector for those with dedication and heart.
When Jonathan arrived at Greenfield’s, the home was facing a significant staffing challenge. But through strong leadership and a focus on core values, he helped build a team that he now describes as “second to none.” He adds, “You can’t put a price on that. I’d struggle to find a better team anywhere else.”
Jonathan is quick to credit the people around him. “The staff at Greenfield’s were incredible. Their support made all the difference,” he says. He also praises the collaborative culture at Coverage Care: “There’s a real sense of unity. Managers across all homes talk, collaborate, and respect each other. It’s something special.”
He speaks highly of Chief Executive Debbie Price, calling her “very influential and personable — she truly sets the company apart from its competitors.”
Looking to the future, Jonathan is proud to be part of an organisation that’s embracing sustainability.
At Greenfield’s, solar panels are being installed, with at least 30% of the home’s electricity soon to be generated sustainably. “It’s a clear sign that we’re not only caring for people - but also for the planet,” he says.
As Coverage Care marks three decades of service, Jonathan Cook’s story is a powerful reminder of what compassionate leadership can achieve - and how the future of care is being shaped by those who lead with heart and vision.
