In the market town of Wellington, Farcroft has a lovely, homely, friendly atmosphere from the moment you enter the building and the staff are there to make sure you enjoy your stay and get the most out of your time at Farcroft.

There is a varied programme of events ranging from meals out, trips to the theatre, bingo, coffee mornings and other activities on a daily basis, and of course quiet areas for those who wish to read or chat with friends and family or simply relax.

At Farcroft we cater for all dietary requirements and our food is freshly cooked in the Home’s kitchen.

Our Catering Manager has been awarded the Gold Healthy Eating Award of which we are all very proud for providing home cooked fresh meals.

Farcroft receives visits from local church ministers and can also arrange transport to your local place of worship if you require it. Although we do not provide nursing care, district nurses and community psychiatric nurses visit regularly as well as local doctors.

Our service users also enjoy going shopping and taking a break on holiday.

The gardens at Farcroft are attractive and accessible to everyone to sit in and enjoy, and offer a safe environment for everyone. There are patio areas, raised flowerbeds and enclosed courtyard areas.

Meetings are held regularly with service users in order to share ideas for the home and create a more personal environment.

A note on our latest inspection report

Following its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission, Farcroft has been given a ‘requires improvement’ rating, having previously held the rating of ‘good’.

Coverage Care Services respects the work of the CQC and, as an organisation, puts huge emphasis on continuous improvement in all areas of the care it provides. This lower rating is a disappointment, particularly as it can be attributed mainly to some failings in procedure and record keeping, rather than in any wider sense of being a safe, caring and welcoming home for its residents.

The CQC’s method of reporting means that a failure in one of its categories can count as a failure across other rating categories too and it is our feeling that this has been a large contributory factor to the overall lower score. We do not seek to undermine the findings of the report, only to request that they are understood in context.

Those procedural omissions raised by the CQC have already been addressed and we look forward to the home’s next inspection.

We would encourage everyone to read the CQC inspection report for themselves as we feel it reveals the true quality of the home and provides reassurance that it is a caring, safe, supportive and dignified place to life. This is evidenced by the many positive comments made to the inspectors by residents, their families and the staff, which are contained in the report.

Equally, we would welcome anyone who wishes to see this home and experience its friendly and caring atmosphere to contact us and arrange a visit, in order that they may understand for themselves how reality can be very different to a report completed to a rather rigid formula.
Thank you for allowing us the time to explain our wider view of this latest outcome for Farcroft.
