Close shave for Bishops Castle beardie!

The handyman at a south Shropshire care home has raised more than £500 for charity in memory of his father who died from cancer.

Andrew Grant, who works at Coverage Care’s Stone House in Bishops Castle, shaved off his beard to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK.

Andrew stopped shaving in February and the four inches of growth was removed during a bingo evening at The Inn on The Green in Wentnor that was being held to raise funds for the Stone House residents’ comfort fund.

He said: “I was really pleased with the amount of money that I managed to raise for Bowel Cancer UK and would like to thank everyone who has sponsored me.”

The charity evening also raised £423 for the residents’ fund.
