Coverage care is a not for profit organisation with 14 care homes in Shropshire providing EMI, Nursing and Residential facilities. Briarfields sits in the quiet residential area of Belle Vue on the outskirts of Shrewsbury, there are 42 individual residential rooms and the home is divided into units with lounge/diners which enable relaxed interaction.

Night Care Assistant Shift Leader – 25 hours per week

 

Post Objective: To be responsible for the care of service users at night, delivering high quality care as a Manager and as part of the care team to meet the physical, social, intellectual, psychological, spiritual and emotional needs of service users. To be responsible for the security and safety of the establishment whilst on duty in accordance with Coverage Care’s Code of Practice and all current relevant legislation

 

Job Description - Summary of Principal Responsibilities:

  1. As shift leader, take overall responsibility for leading the Night Care team in ensuring a high quality care service to the service users and ensuring that all Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  2. To provide all aspects of personal care to the service users in line with their care plan and to reach their maximum level of independence. This may include help with mobility, toileting, washing, dressing, as well as promoting independence and encouraging service users to undertake these tasks for themselves wherever possible, in line with agreed care plans.
  3. To build and maintain good relationships with service users and their relatives to develop to their fullest potential. This may include talking to and listening to service users.
  4. To help to create a warm and friendly atmosphere within which service users can be encouraged to develop to their fullest potential.
  5. Undertake the scheduled checks, including building and security, and record this on correct paperwork including your initials, for the service users and the building in accordance with the Company Policy and in the event of any emergency, take all necessary action to preserve the security and safety of the service users in accordance with procedures.
  6. To administer medication for service users in line with current policy and procedures.
  7. Participate in the implementation of the personal care plans and assist in maintaining the well-being, dignity, quality of life and environment of the service users. Assist in the preparation of those plans as part of the key worker system and contribute to reports and reviews.
  8. Ensure that service user confidentiality & dignity is maintained at all times.
  9. To participate in appropriate training, including the Assessors award, and attend staff meetings as requested by the Manager.
  10. To ensure that all new care staff are given a comprehensive induction, ensuring that staff are aware of the standards expected, and that staff are fully supported during their induction and probation period and throughout their training.
  11. Participate in appropriate training, including the Assessors award, and attend staff meetings as requested by the Manager.
  12. Be aware of emergency procedures including familiarization with the fire evacuation procedure, report hazards to the Manager and respond to emergencies as appropriate.
