JOB DESCRIPTION

Farcroft

Coverage care is a not for profit organisation with 14 care homes in Shropshire providing EMI, Nursing and Residential facilities. Farcroft is located in the market town of Wellington and has 41 individual rooms grouped around small living areas for those living with dementia. 

Laundry Assistant – 16.5 hours per week

Post Objective: Maintaining the laundry facilities and ensuring service users clothing is maintained the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in accordance with Coverage Care’s Code of Practice and all current relevant legislation.

Job Description - Summary of Principal Responsibilities:

  1. To maintain service users clothing, sorting the items, washing and ironing.
  2. To return clothing to service users rooms.
  3. To maintain the laundry room to an acceptable standard, including keeping all machines free from dust. To clean the room at the end of each shift and leave it tidy.
  4. To ensure that service user confidentiality & dignity is maintained at all times.
  5. Participate in appropriate training, and attend staff meetings as requested by the Manager.
  6. Be aware of emergency procedures, report hazards to the Manager and respond to emergencies as appropriate.
  7. Ensure the service provision is anti-discriminatory and culturally sensitive responding to individual needs, with regard to race, religion, culture, language, gender, sexual orientation, age and disability.

The post holder will, therefore, be required to undertake other duties deemed appropriate and consistent with the purpose of the job. This role may involve shift patterns to include day, evening & weekend working.
