Visit by MP Mark Pritchard

Cottage Christian residential nursing home in Newport was the first former Southern Cross home in Shropshire to be transferred to a new operator in September 2011.Chief Executive of Coverage Care, David Coull said: “We are delighted to welcome Mark Pritchard to meet the staff and residents at The Cottage and to show him the improvements we are making to the home.”

MP for the Wrekin Mark Pritchard said: “I am very pleased to have been invited to visit the Cottage nursing home and to have the opportunity meet the residents and staff as they prepare for Christmas.”

The Registered Manager at The Cottage, Mrs Beverley Harvey-Howson said: “This has been a difficult time for all of us at the home but we are pleased it has now been resolved and are delighted to be working with Coverage Care and are really looking forward to celebrating Christmas in the home."

David Coull added; “Cottage Christian is an established and very well managed care home with nursing services with an excellent reputation for the care it provides for people in the Newport area.”“We are investing in new facilities for the home and are working with Beverley and her team to provide the highest possible standards of care.”The Cottage Christian Care Home in Newport was one of 751 care homes operated by Southern Cross for which new care providers are being found under recently announced restructuring proposals agreed with the existing landlords, as part of a commitment to ensure continuity of care for the residents.
