Love and marriage at Woodcroft
Wednesday, 15 February 2012 09:48
Alison Gough the manager at Woodcroft which is operated by Coverage Care will conduct the “marriage” which will be between two staff members.
Alison Gough said
“We chose the theme of a wedding as we wanted an event that everyone in the home could take part in. The day has been planned in a fun light hearted manner to make it a real party. We have two staff volunteers to play the Bride and Groom and afterwards all the Home is joining together in a sit down reception, followed by an after wedding party later in the day.”
The event has tied in with reminiscence activity that Alison and her team have been undertaking with residents sharing their memories of weddings past and stimulating discussions around how weddings have changed over the years and expectations for married life.
Guests for the wedding included the Chief Executive of Coverage Care David Coull who said.
“Activities and celebrations are all part of everyday life and it may have been sometime since some of our more frail residents have joined in a wedding celebration. To bring a wedding into Woodcroft is an excellent idea and a good reason for everyone to have some fun together”
