The 2008 awards ceremony organised by Shropshire Partners in Care saw over 16 residential care homes, domiciliary agencies and day centres battle it out for the 11 awards.

Nurse of the Year Linda Jay who lives on Holyhead road, Wellington said, “The awards ceremony is a fantastic way to acknowledge all the carers that work so hard in our county, the evening is a fantastic morale booster for everyone involved. I still can’t believe that I have received such an accolade, thank you very much to everyone that nominated me.”

Linda Jay a qualified mental health nurse who is currently studying for her BA (Hons) in Nursing Studies has future plans to develop a dementia centre of excellence.

Julie Roberts who nominated Linda said, “ Lin is passionate about ensuring we all have holistic approach to enable our residents achieve wellbeing. With her vision for the future, qualities, skills, drive and ambition anything Lin puts her mind to I’m sure she will achieve.”
