Amy Hutchings (26) from Barclay Gardens Domiciliary Agency has been awarded the Manager of the Year award sponsored by CareAware at the annual Shropshire Care Awards. The glittering awards ceremony was hosted by BBC Radio Shropshire presenter Eric Smith and after dinner speaker Christine Hamilton at The International Centre in Telford.
Debbie Ellis who nominated Amy said, “Amy has only been a manager since June 2007 but she quickly recognised that the agency needed to have set business objectives to be more successful. Throughout these changes she has reassured staff and service users implementing an open door policy.” Amy from Trench who is qualified to NVQ Level 4 in health and social care said, “I’m completely overwhelmed, it’s brilliant to be acknowledged for the work you do, I’ve been in care for 10 years now and this is my first managerial position, I really could not ask for a more encourageable team, I couldn’t achieve what I have with out them.” CareAware’s Development Director sponsor Julie Emmott said, “These awards are a fantastic morale booster for a sector that rarely gets the recognition it deserves, it has truly been an honor to be here tonight in supporting Shropshire carers.” Barclay Gardens Domiciliary agency (DCA) is part of Coverage Care Services Ltd who operate as a not for profit company providing care from 14 care centers across the county. ![]() CareAware’s Jacqui Thompson and Julie Emmott congratulate manager of the year Amy Hutchings with Christine Hamilton. |
