Carers are never too young or old to achieve!
Amy Hutchings and Helen Biggs from Barclay Gardens domiciliary care agency, Donnington, have successfully completed their latest NVQ awards. Amy Hutchings the youngest Registered Care Manager employed by Coverage Care has completed her NVQ level 4 at just 25 years of age. Amy joined Coverage Care in 2003 and quickly rose through the ranks to become Manager. Amy said, “Coverage Care offer training to all employees, irrespective of their age. I never thought I would be able to achieve so much at my age.” Domiciliary care assistant Helen Biggs has worked for Coverage Care since 2005 and has achieved her NVQ level 2 at 70 years of age proving that age is no barrier to learning. Helen said, “ I have worked in care services for over 13 years and have always enjoyed completing courses that have been available to me. For the NVQ level 2, I had to complete 6 units; all involved updating different aspects of my caring practice. I have really enjoyed the course, it keeps my finger on the pulse and definitely keeps me young!” NVQ Co-ordinator Rachel Evans said, ”Both Helen and Amy have worked really hard to achieve their NVQ awards. It’s brilliant that Coverage Care can offer training courses that suit all individuals whatever the employee’s age.” Rachel concluded, “Coverage Care currently has 72 candidates working towards a qualification with 44 qualified assessors working towards their assessors award, we hope to have all our staff qualified up to NVQ level 2 by the end of 2008.”
