News from Fairholme

Denise Morris , manager of Fairholme gives us a round up of events

We decided to be a part of the ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ in September to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We all gathered together for coffee and cakes on the morning of 28th September. Roger Knox did us a painting of a canal boat to raffle. We sold Charity Christmas cards, calendars, pens etc with the Macmillan logo and had a big raffle to raise money for the charity. We all had a good time and were pleased to be able to help a good cause.

We also have plans to support the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign on 26th October as we did last year. We will have a pink theme to the day. Staff and service users will wear something pink and we will have a pink slant to the menu and pink activities.

10th  anniversary celebration at Fairholme

We held our 10th anniversary celebration at Fairholme on Wednesday the 22nd of August. We were really pleased to have a lovely sunny day for our barbecue, considering what terrible weather there had been all summer.

We were pleased to have a visit from several of the board members and some service user’s families came too. We had a very enjoyable day!

An appropriate addition to the furniture at Fairholme

We were very pleased to win a prize in the cake competition at the garden party in July this year.

We decided to buy something for the home which would be useful and a good memento of Natasha’s achievement. After discussions at resident’s and staff meetings we decided that a clock would be a good idea….. and what could be more appropriate in a care home than a Grandmother Clock!

We are all pleased with our new acquisition; it looks lovely near the entrance to the home.
