Fairholme comprises of forty individual bedrooms with washbasins. Service users are welcome to bring in their favourite possessions and items of furniture if they wish, within the limitations of the space. There are bathrooms, showers and toilets within easy reach on all the units. There are dining areas and sitting areas with recreational space individually decorated with comfortable furnishings. We have attractive garden areas with seating which are safe and accessible to service users. Local doctors, district nurses, community psychiatric nurses, chiropodists, opticians, dentists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists all visit the home when required.

We have various activities and entertainment available for all service users in the home at regular intervals. We have ‘Extend’ exercise sessions, Tai Chi, beauty therapy, crafts, bingo, quizzes, reminiscence, coffee mornings and a shop for various items.

We provide a wide choice of freshly cooked meals catering for all dietary needs. We also provide meals for people in the local community. The Environmental Health Department awarded Fairholme the Platinum Healthy Eating Award in May 2006. To see our sample menu, please click here

All staff complete regular training and development to ensure that service users are provided with high quality individualised care. Staff are trained in moving and handling, care plan training, medication, infection control training, health and safety, basic food hygiene, personal care, communication, dealing with challenging behaviour, first aid, fire awareness, Alzheimer’s Accredited training and NVQ 2 and 3.
