Announcing the appointment of Rob Turton to the Board of Coverage Care as a Non-executive Director, Chairman of the Board, Kenneth Bean said: “I am delighted that Rob has agreed to join Coverage Care where his impressive track record of working as a Chartered Accountant as a Partner with BDO Stoy Hayward in the charitable and not for profit sectors will bring a wealth of experience to the board, as we continue to develop our care business and deliver enhanced public benefit.”

The governance and the role of the non-executive director in organisations like Coverage Care with responsibility for providing care services for vulnerable people is increasingly important, as older people in particular have to rely on the independent care sector for a range of care services, everything from care at home to nursing care.

Joining Coverage Care, Rob Turton said: “I am impressed by the commitment of Coverage Care to provide a consistently high standard of care and believe that my experience in corporate governance will help the company adapt and meet the rapidly changing care and funding environment facing the not for profit care sector.”

Welcoming Rob Turton to the Board, Chief Executive of Coverage Care David Coull said: “The independent care sector is facing increasing regulatory and sector specific challenges which will test the traditional model of corporate governance in privately managed care companies”.

“We are fortunate in having an excellent Chairman and team of Non-executive Directors at Coverage Care who together bring well informed expertise, independent judgment and strategic insight to the business. This will help shape our future, by listening sensitively to the needs of our residents, gaining respect from our staff and managing the investment and development of Coverage Care” added Mr Coull.

David Coull concluded: “As a leading not for profit care company, we are proud of our reputation for providing the highest possible standard of care, being rated overall as ‘excellent’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and by winning numerous awards for our care services. This is important as we continue to re-invest in our existing care facilities and look forward to opening new our new Greenfields care home in Whitchurch this summer and completing the 31 bed extension to our existing Innage Grange care home in Bridgnorth in the autumn”.
