Barleyfield House, Shrewsbury, short term respite care home operations to be transferred from Warwickshire PCT to Coverage Care Services on behalf of Shropshire County Council.


Coverage Care adds Barleyfield to its Shropshire based care operations.

Operated on behalf of Shropshire County Council, Barleyfield House short term respite care home for adults with learning difficulties has been transferred to Coverage Care Services, the leading not for profit care business in Shropshire.

Opened in 1998 and originally developed by the Bourneville Village Trust together with the Development Trust for Shropshire County Council, Barleyfield House is a modern home in Shrewsbury, providing short term respite care for adults with learning difficulties.
Announcing the transfer of services to Coverage Care, Shropshire County Council’s Manager for Contracts and Services, Pat Hockley said: “Barleyfield House provides much needed respite care for some ninety adults each year. We are pleased to announce that with the appointment of Coverage Care as the new service provider, we are able to continue to provide the high quality of care needed for adults with a learning disability in a relaxing and caring environment.”
Located in Monkmoor and set in its own landscaped gardens, Barleyfield House is a purpose built single story care home with five bedrooms and an excellent range of facilities including an open plan kitchen, dining room, lounge and a games room.
Chief Executive of Coverage Care, David Coull said: “We have already established a reputation for providing a wide range of care services in Shropshire and our expertise in providing care for those with learning disabilities is a distinct advantage as we arrange to take over responsibility for providing care at Barleyfield House.”
Recognising the important contribution made by the current staff, David Coull added: “We are committed to maintaining and developing the excellent service established at Barleyfield House and are particularly pleased to accept the transfer of the existing team under the leadership of the care home manager Roseann Genese.”
